Larry Craig, Anna Nicole Smith Stories Make Top 10 ListProject for Excellence in Journalism Releases Weekly Talk Show Index 10/12/2007 04:23:00 AM Eastern
That's according to the Project for Excellence in Journalism's weekly Talk Show Index.
The Craig story came in at No. 4 and Smith at No. 8, the latter about attorney Howard K. Stern's $60 million lawsuit against a book making lurid allegations.
Topping the list of topics was the 2008 campaign, followed by the Iraq policy debate, although that was primarily a debate about what conservative talker Rush Limbaugh meant when he referred to "phony soldiers" in a riff about soldiers, one in particular, who were criticizing the war.
The Blackwater shootout was the second-biggest story in terms of general coverage and the third in terms of talk shows. But some talkers -- including Limbaugh and Sean Hannity -- steered clear of the story, PEJ’s Mark Jurkowitz said in his index analysis.
