DESCRIPTION
NewsChannel8 is currently seeking an innovative and entrepreneurial General Sales Manager with the overall goal of maximizing sales revenue.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop NewsChannel8s sales strategy and unique opportunities against the broadcast market as well as the local cable interconnect.
- Monitor local and national sales teams along with individual activity and performance against annual strategies and budget.
- Must be a coach and mentor who not only knows the national business but loves generating new business directly with clients on the local level.
- Must be a creative thinker that colors outside of the lines.
- High visibility in both the local and national markets with clients and agencies, so travel is a requirement.
- Managing and coordinating daily with the traffic department and commercial production team.
- Participate in the redevelopment of news8.net along with developing a sales strategy.
- Incorporating and monetizing with NewsChannel 8 our digital channels Retro Television and Doug Hill Weather Now.
- Targeting and presenting cross platform opportunities with NewsChannel8, WJLA and Politico.
- Weekly oversight of inventory management, pricing and forecasting.
- Responsible for development of annual budgets for both revenue and expenses.
- Daily interaction with Corporate VP of Sales as well as other Department Heads.
Preferred Professional Experience/Qualifications:
- A minimum of ten years successful media sales experience and a minimum of five years of proven success as a sales leader.
- Bachelors Degree.
- Direct sales experience in digital media and interactive media.
- Must have strong communication skills both in person and in writing.
- Proven experience in forecasting and budgeting.
- Complete understanding of Political and Issue Advertising.
