RESPONSIBILTIES:
·        Provide strategic legal advice to the President of AMC / Senior Vice President of Original Programming, Production and Digital Content AMC / and other department heads at AMC in conjunction with Vice President Legal Affairs
·       Provide business affairs services, primarily with respect to the AMC, Original Programming group
- Strategize, draft and negotiate a range of agreements relating to the day-to-day operations of AMC, including production services, talent and program licensing agreements
- Handle a range of issues relevant to the channel including sponsorship, guild and intellectual property issues (e.g., copyright infringement)
- Handle AMC related disputes and litigation assigned by Vice President of Legal Affairs (working with Vice President, Legal Affairs, Rainbow Media and Corporate Legal.)
- Ensure that all important/sensitive legal issues for the channel get fully escalated/vetted through Vice President, Legal Affairs and executive management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 8 years experience in an in-house corporate legal department or other relevant legal experienceÂ
- Minimum 3 years experience at a network, cable programming service or studio in a business affairs capacity in connection with the development and production of original programming
- JD degree and admission to a state bar
- Contacts in the film and cable industries in LA and NY a strong plus
- Ability to analyze complex business and legal issues
- Creative, flexible problem-solving skills
- Excellent negotiation and contract drafting skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Very strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work a flexible schedule in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to perform well under pressure while performing multiple tasks
- Ability as a team leader who can build consensus among disparate interests to achieve business goals
- Ability to work as part of a team (both within the Legal Department and with the AMC executive teams) to effectively defuse crisis or otherwise handle potentially acute situations
- Ability to champion projects through a corporate organization from conception through implementation
