Manager, Digital Media Operations


NBC Universal is now hiring Manager, Digital Media Operations


JOB PURPOSE:


Oversee the Digital Media Operations team responsible for fulfillment of media content to NBCUniversal's distribution outlets including, but not limited to, its websites, mobile apps, joint ventures, VOD, EST, authenticated and live streaming. Collaborate with a broad client base from Production, Post Production and New Media to Marketing and Public Relations.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:


· Responsible for successful encoding and delivery of digital files on a 24/7 basis

· Design manual and automated workflows that streamline day to day operations; scripts, watch folders, encoding/trancoding presets, delivery specifications and file status notifications

· Troubleshoot enterprise media transcoding products and high speed file transfer software

· Understand how to maximize transcode and delivery resource utilization and recommend additional hardware and/or software to scale with changing business needs

· Provide hands on training for the team on new hardware, software and workflows

· Proactively document and inform team of any changes to workflows and/or processes

· Supervise all aspects of live web streaming (translate technical specifications from client into streaming presets that optimize viewer experience and maintain streaming encoders)

· Communicate effectively and professionally with staff and clients

· Track projects through completion, confirming deadlines and technical requirements are met

· Follow industry developments; research emerging and innovative technologies to enhance content presentation or streamline production processes

· Approve timecards, set goals, assess performance, conduct employee reviews and schedule staff

· Other duties as assigned by Management




BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:


· In depth knowledge of Visual Basic (VB) programming, XLS parsing, XML generation, Rhozet and FlipFactory transcode farms, Aspera and Signiant high speed file transfer software and management consoles, FTP, sFTP and RSS delivery protocols

· Extensive experience with codecs and containers (Video codecs: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, DV25, DV50, DVCPro, and Windows Media. Audio codecs: MPEG1 Layer 2, MP3, AAC, AMC, AMR-NB, and Windows Media Audio. Containers: HDV, MXF, MPEG-2 Transport Stream, MPEG-2 Program Stream, GXF, LXF, QuickTime, WMV, ASF, AVI, VOB, 3GPP, 3G2, etc.)

· Minimum 2 years experience managing a team of technical resources

· Minimum 4 years experience in content prep and delivery for multiplatform distribution outlets Leadership, Project Management and organizational skills


DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:


· Familiarity with Imagemagick, Rhozet APIs and Signiant workflow tool desired

· Communicate effectively and professionally as part of a diverse team

· Ability to work flexible hours in a fast-paced, deadline intensive environment
