Top Democrats Want Sirius Conditions on XM Meld

The heads of the House Energy & Commerce Committee and its Telecommunications & Internet Subcommittee called on Federal FCC chairman Kevin Martin to put conditions on the merger of XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio if the commission votes to approve it, including allowing outside companies to make receivers that also receive competitive services like HD radio, the Internet and iPod-docking stations.

Sports Leagues, ESPN Take Field vs. Unlicensed Mobile Devices

The major sports leagues, and a network that depends on them, told the FCC in no uncertain terms not to allow any technology companies to sell wireless devices that interfere with wireless microphones operating in the so-called white spaces between TV channels.

Hearst-Argyle Television Revenue Down 2.6% in Q1

Hearst-Argyle Television reported earnings per diluted share of $0.11 for the first quarter compared with $0.05 in the first quarter of 2007. Total revenue for the quarter was $165.1 million, down 2.6% from the same quarter in 2007.

ION Media Networks Grabs ER

ION Media Networks arranged a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution to air seasons 11-14 of medical drama ER starting in June.

AT&T, MediaFLO Set Debut for Service
