AT&T continued to rack up subscribers for its IPTV service in the first quarter, hitting 379,000 U-verse TV users as of March 31, while at the same time disconnections in the telephone company’s legacy wireline business hit an all-time high.

• The number of households worldwide subscribing to telco TV or IPTV services grew from 4.7 million in 2006 to more than 14 million in 2007, according to Parks Associates.

• Verizon was granted a video franchise from the village and town of Orchard Park, N.Y., in Erie County, bringing the total number of New York communities that have approved video franchises for the telco to 108.

• The Dutch Caribbean’s Telefonia Bonairiano NV (Telbo) selected Kasenna LivingRoom middleware and MediaBase video servers to launch the first IPTV service in the island of Bonaire.

• Sweden's Dreampark, an IPTV middleware provider, announced integration with ZyXEL Communications's STB-1003 IP set-top box for broadcast and video-on-demand applications.
