Bravo’s Project Runway to Lifetime Television; NBCU Sues
By Anne Becker
NBC Universal’s Bravo will lose its biggest hit as Project Runway is moving to Lifetime Television, according to a deal announced Monday by the women’s cable network and The Weinstein Co., which owns and produces the show. NBC Universal filed suit against Weinstein in New York State Supreme Court, saying that it had first refusal for the show and any possible spinoffs.

Nielsen to Acquire IAG Research

Ratings giant Nielsen announced Monday that it signed a deal to acquire IAG Research, a privately held New York firm that specializes in measuring consumer engagement with TV shows, commercials and product placements, for $225 million in cash.

Yahoo Wants a Better Deal from Microsoft

After Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer sent a letter to Yahoo’s board Saturday declaring that there has been “no meaningful negotiation to conclude an agreement” between the two companies and suggesting that Microsoft will take its bid hostile by initiating a proxy battle to replace Yahoo’s board if a deal is not reached by April 26, Yahoo CEO and founder Jerry Yang and chairman Roy Bostock formally responded with a request for a higher price.

Motorola Makes Peace with Carl Icahn

Embattled telecommunications-equipment giant Motorola said it reached an agreement with activist investor Carl Icahn, who had threatened a proxy battle at the Schaumburg, Ill.-based company, to place two of Icahn’s preferred representatives on its board.

Primetime Ratings: Monk, Psych Fail to Spur NBC on Sunday Night

"Born on the USA" could have been NBC's theme Sunday night as it began a month-long run of co-owned USA Network shows Monk and Psych. While the audience would have been large by cable standards (about 5.5 million and 4 million viewers, respectively), the shows did not register much of blip by broadcast-rating standards (a 1.5 and a 1.3 in the key 18/49 demo, respectively).
