Verizon Communications, fulfilling a commitment to the Federal Communications Commission, said it will phase out all the local analog channels offered on FiOS TV on a regional basis, starting in New York on April 21.

AT&T Drops DirecTV for Dish

• Startup 180Squared released an "encapsulation interface" into Microsoft's IPTV Mediaroom middleware for existing billing/operational support system applications and other third-party software.

• AT&T announced that U-verse TV and Internet services are now available to 300,000 living units in parts of several communities, including Bloomington, Indianapolis, Kokomo and Muncie.

• In Connecticut, AT&T U-verse services are now available to 230,000 living units in parts of about 80 cities and towns.

• Verizon introduced FiOS TV to households in Wareham, Mass, and announced that the town of Malden, Mass., recently granted Verizon a video franchise.
