Jeopardy! Signs Partnership for Live Mobile Component

If you sit at home thinking you could beat those know-it-alls on Jeopardy!, now you will have the chance. The Sony Pictures Television game show and developer AirPlay planned an announcement Monday of an agreement to develop a multiplayer mobile game that will allow users to play along live with Jeopardy! contestants while the show airs, via their BlackBerry, cell phone or other personal digital assistant.

AFTRA Phases Out Phase One Agreement with SAG

The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists announced Sunday that its national board “overwhelmingly voted” Saturday to suspend the joint bargaining process under the Phase One agreement with the Screen Actors Guild and negotiate its primetime-TV contract on its own.

A Delaware court ruled for Barry Diller and against John Malone in a legal dispute involving InterActiveCorp that has captivated media circles for weeks because both businessmen have such a fabled history. The court ruled that Liberty Media, controlled by Malone, failed to prove that Diller breached an unusual proxy agreement that lets Diller run IAC and vote Malone's shares even though Malone has more stock.

Car Crash?

Anemic automotive advertising has rattled TV media for several years, and 2008 is off to an unpromising start. In recent days, auto industry analysts have lowered U. S. car industry unit sales forecasts several percentage points to around 15 million light vehicles (passenger cars and small trucks). That compares to more than 16 million sold vehicles last year and a recent high-water mark of 17.
