Angela, I'm not sure that blog comments tnsarlate directly into a bigger PR spend, but they can come in useful, especially in selling non-fiction where you blog on a subject which is similar to your book proposal. They're not obligatory, though: as always, the writing is the main thing, blogs and websites are subsidiary.

I am really lazy about ctiasng on, so I use the backward loop method any time I think I can get away with it (without being messy or affecting gauge). Otherwise, the long-tail cast on, or sometimes the knitted cast on where you knit a stitch between the last two on the needle.If I'm making socks from a pattern I do whatever they recommend, because it's almost certainly more stretchy than my default choices.
