A Peek At WNBC's New York Nonstop
We had the good fortune of getting a peek at NBC Local Media’s New York Nonstop channel, which launches Monday, earlier this week. Despite Mother Nature’s best efforts to keep us snowed in, we also got a tour of the cutting-edge “content center” facilities at 30 Rock, along with a sitdown with several key people involved in the launch of the digital channel. I tried my best to sneak off with WNBC’s 103-inch plasma HD monitor, but couldn’t fit the thing under my coat.
Our cover story on New York Nonstop, a key development in NBC’s progressive local media strategy, comes out Monday. Until then, here’s a video tour of the facility along with a little info on the channel from WNBC President/GM Tom O’Brien and VP of News Vickie Burns.

Boy, Vickie & Tom sure know how to spew the meaningless marketing jargon. That nervous, uncomfortable hand-tapping says it all.
And that bad audio...did you shoot this in a Port Authority mens room?
David commented:
Where are the dutch angles? We need even more crappy camerawork and faster pans to get the story done right -- NY Nonstop style --. How low can you go? How crappy can you get?
Chelsea commented:
The quality of your video report was crap! Like my grandmother grabbing a video camera at a family wedding. Bad shooting. Bad lighting. Bad narration. Story was a bad press release for WNBC with NO depth. But I supposed as long as you get "content" on the web, no matter how good it is, that's all the matters.
simon commented:
Learn how to properly frame and shoot a video story. Watching the story was like being ADHD.
Adam Smith commented:
I see you are calling it a "digital channel," not a "cable channel," as in an earlier story. If it's available over the air, viewers deserve to know that it is "free TV," cable not required.
