TCA 2010: Pie ‘n Burger ‘n Brian Williams

The Langham Huntington in Pasadena, which is host this week to the TCA press tour (Complete Coverage of the Winter Press Tour), is a luxury hotel set on 23 acres and features a Michelin star restaurant and a world-class spa. But none of the landmark estate’s offerings are apparently as compelling to NBC Nightly News’ Brian Williams as a local burger joint. The anchor, who is known to have a penchant for mall food (See NBC News’ Brian Williams on His Food Court), was at the Langham for NBC’s Jan. 10 TCA day. After Williams’ panel session he and his wife Jane opted to walk a mile to Pie ‘n Burger, they told me as they were headed to NBC’s evening TCA party on the Langham premises.
I’ve never been to Pie ‘n Burger, but Brian says I should definitely give it a whirl - and that the name pretty much says it all. “They have great pie and burgers,” Brian says.
Jane says she had a salad, or as Brian says, “at least it was a salad when it first came off the truck wrapped up in plastic.” Wait — not pie and burgers? No, of course, there was pie and burgers, Jane says, the salad was just to balance out the diner food.
To cap it all off: A red-eye back to New York later that night.
