There's a lot going on...from LA to Charlotte and in between

January 17, 2008

Lots going on with big changes at 20th Century Fox TV. Exec VP Drama Development JENNIFER NICHILAS SALKE has been promoted to be the drama and comedy development point man, or should that be point person? Under Jennifer will be PATRICK MORAN handling drama as Sr. VP Drama Development and JONATHAN DAVIS moving over from FOX Broadcasting to oversee comedy, with a Sr VP title attached. Salke has been at 20th since 2002 and has been behind both Prison Break and Bones. Good work everybody!

Some changes in the Development end of Discovery. ELLI HAKAMI is heading to LA and her new title, Vice President Program Development. She’ll be leaving her office in NY and her old title to STUART COHN, now Director Program Development. Elli began as an editor for TLC’s Trauma: Real Life in the ER series then went to work doing nonfiction programming at HBO before becoming Sr. Director of Program Development at CourtTV (now truTV). Cohn comes to Discovery from MTV where he was Director of Series Development for MTV News and Docs. He’s also been a writer/producer for MTV. Well Dunne! you two.

Up the 5 to San Francisco comes word that TYLER KUHLMAN is taking an Account Executive slot at KBCW, part of the CBS operation in the City by the Bay. He’s coming to from an AE slot at KFTY in lovely Santa Rosa. He’s a California guy through and through.

More sales news: BOB BEL BRUNO, a name that is so cool it could be used for the on-air crowd, has been named VP of Ad Sales for AMC, reporting to BILL ROSOLIE, Executive Vice President of National Ad Sales for AMC. BBB comes over from National Sales Manager at TV Guide Network. Of course, he’ll be working in New York and commuting from Connecticut. Nice.

Houston is a sports-crazy town. Great spot for FSN, which is Fox Sports Net. The FSN operation in H-town has a new General Manager, STEVE TELLO, who’s going to trade his Pittsburgh Steelers jersey for a Houston Texan one when he makes the switch from heading up FNS in Pittsburgh. The Miami native will no doubt love the Houston climate more than the Pennsylvania one. Tello has an extensive background that includes being a Sr. Producer for ABC News and Peter Jennings as well as heading up broadcast and production for Speer out of DC. Touchdown, Steve!

Over in Charlotte, aka Banktown cause Bank of America and Wachovia are both headquartered there, comes word that KEITH WOODWARD has been promoted to Vice President of Commercial Sales for the Inspiration Network. The Florida A&M grad has also worked for WBTV in Charlotte as well as Denver-based Jato Communications. This is the second go-round for Keith at Inspiration. From ’93 to ’97, he was the traffic manager there. Cool! I bet that guy knows how to milk a log, huh?

Speaking of Charlotte…from the “This Just In” department is word of a new Creative Services Director at Belo’s NBC affiliate WCNC in The Queen City.  Click here to read about LUANNE STUART.

And speaking of Creative Services people who move ahead…JIM TELLUS began his broadcast career as a promo guy and is now GM at WTHR in Indy.  Click here for the whole story.
