Dee-troit plus Programming

May 27, 2008

Hope one and all had a restful long weekend. Grab that latte and see what’s going on. Getting ready to hit the 0 to 100 on her new job up Detroit way is PAMELA BAUMANN, who will show up on May 29 as Creative Services Director of the CBS-owned duopoly in Detroit of WWJ (CBS) and WKBD (CW) in Motor City. Click here for more info on Pam. More news at WWJ. Already on the job in Southfield is DARREN PIEH, the new Local Sales Manager. He was previously National Sales Manager. He began his broadcast career as a radio copywriter and then moved into sales with WKRC in Cincinnati, WTVG and WTOL in Toledo and then went to work for Katz in Detroit. Sounds like he was working his way north on I-75. Darren will report to Vice President of Sales JENNIFER PURTAN while Pam will report to station VP/GM TREY FABACHER

Already on the job at New York based Atlas Media has tapped ANITA SHAH, the new Vice President of Development at the non-fiction programmer. Anita brings over 10 years of experience to Atlas in the areas of casting, developing and pitching unscripted shows. She comes over from Lion TV and has also worked for ABC, Granada America and Tiger Aspect Productions. She’s also been a reporter for MTV and BBC. Anita will report to KAKI KIRBY, EVP of Business Development and Special Projects. Great news!

Yes, you can go home again. It’s what MATT CHERNISS is doing. He’s returning to FOX as the network’s Executive Vice President, Programming. He was previously Senior Vice President of Original Programming at FX and had his hand in some of my personal favorite TV shows, like The Riches and Damages. He’s going to be working with KEVIN REILLY, President Entertainment. The UCLA grad really has come home; since he’s worked his entire career at FOX. Can’t wait to see what’s new!

What’s your Fate? E-mail me at BCFates@reedbusiness.com, attn Kate Fates & Fortunes.
