One Story Doesn't Fly at Fox News

October 7, 2010

Oops. Fox News Channel yesterday reported that the city of Los Angeles planned to buy 1,000 jetpacks for its police and rescue workers. Total cost to turn cops into James Bond: $1 billion. Problem is, it turns out that the story originated in the not-terribly reliable Weekly World News.

Fox News acknowledged its error, but that didn’t stop others from having a bit of fun with the situation. So here’s CNN’s Jeanne Moos’ report on the situation, as well as David Letterman’s “Top 10 List” of ways you can tell there’s trouble at Fox News.

Thanks to @vernejgay for pointing these out on Twitter.
