Zillion picks up the Weinstein Co.

March 30, 2009

Would-be IPTV provider ZillionTV on Monday announced a content agreement with the formerly Disney-owned Weinstein Company, giving ZillionTV access to the studio’s movies. The two companies made the announcement from MIPTV in Cannes, France. MIP is the one TV show I never get to go to and since I spent my junior year abroad learning French for no useful reason I am resentful about that. The Weinstein Company joins Zillion’s growing roster of content providers, including investors Disney, 20th Century Fox Television, NBC Universal, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.

Among the films Zillion will pick up via the deal are such Oscar-nominated works as The Reader and Vicky Cristina Barcelona as well as the low-brow (but highly entertaining) Zack and Miri Make a Porno.
