TiVo Predicts ‘American Idol’ Outcome

April 10, 2008

According to DVR technology company TiVo, Syesha Mercado will be the next contestant voted off on Fox’s hit series American Idol. The company used second by second measurements to see which contestant’s performances viewers rewSyesha Mercado on American Idolound to watch again… and which they fast-forwarded through.

According to TiVo, the company was able to accurately predict who would win and who would lose in previous weeks, so for this week’s elimination, the company is putting its money where its mouth is and making those predictions public.

According to the data, Syesha Mercado (left) had the most viewers skip through her performance, while David Archuleta brought in the highest numbers during his turn behind the mic.

Reality show bookies, start your engines.

UPDATE: TiVo got it wrong wrong wrong. Sorry to waste your time.

I am very disturbed about how Syesha was always in the bottom three and I know she probably wondered the same. I so glad she was able to keep her pretty smile..She is a very talented and beautiful person. I really feel Brooke should have been long voted off. She has too much mouth and always correcting the judges. I did not see this ocuring in the last6 seasons. Brooke feels that she can sing a song and start it over and I am so sick of those made up tears. I truly believe she must have a relative that works for American Idol. She would have been voted off a long time ago if she was in the past 6 seasons. I hope they vote her off on Wednesday. Personally,I am sick up American idol and so are most of my friends. We saw many excellent auditions and many good vocal singers that never made it to Hollywood.. I do not plan to watch this show if Seyesha is voted off.

I think we're missing the real issue here. Personally it freaks me out to know that Tivo is monitoring individual's viewing habits to the extent that they know when you skip over or rewind.

Most of America doesn't have TiVo. Most of the people who watch American Idol don't have TiVo. I don't have TiVo and I watched and rewatched her performance on the internet like YOU TUBE (where most viewers rewatch American Idol). I must have masterbated to her performance a couple dozen times. Heck, I just masterbated to her picture above while I was typing this. HOT CHICKS RULE AMERICAN IDOL and I'm voting for Syesha, Brooke and Kristy.

They may have missed the mark this time, but Syesha's time remaining on the show is limited and it isn't surprising that people are fast forwarding through her performances.
