Jeremy Hubbard: ABC News' Night Owl
Jeremy Hubbard clearly picked the wrong time to quit drinking coffee.
In March, Hubbard became the newest insomniac on ABC News’ overnight newscasts, World News Now, at 2 a.m., and America This Morning, at 4:30 a.m.
“I think I make sense,” he jokes. “The goal is to talk in complete sentences.”
Previously a correspondent for ABC’s affiliate service, NewsOne, and an anchor/reporter for KDVR Denver, Hubbard is confident he’ll be sharp when news breaks at 3 a.m. But he knows how easy it is to get a little daffy on the graveyard shift.
After all, his predecessors at ABC News Now, Ryan Owens and Taina Hernandez, won some unwanted attention when a series of YouTube clips showed them laughing through segments on Owen Wilson’s suicide attempt and the death toll from floods in Texas.
Hubbard declined to comment on the duo’s antics, but he believes there’s room for a bit of levity in the wee hours. “People don’t expect you to be so buttoned up,” he says. “I think the idea is to do the news and not take myself quite so seriously.”
Sure enough, Hubbard and crew announced last week that the show was moving to daytime—only to confess the next day that it was an April Fools gag.
Or perhaps wishful thinking.

I'm sorry but to all of those defending Jeremy's weight loss, you're wrong! Whether he's sick or not, anyone who is that gaunt and thin has got to be "UNWELL". Whether he's gotten anorexic or he's just plain sick, it does not look right whatsoever. Someone should absolutely help him! Like all of you, I was horrified at how awful he looked when I tuned in. It's been a while so I noticed the difference right away! To be honest, they're a bit annoying especially when they support things like those airport body-scanners etc. I will NEVER support anything that takes my rights and privacy away. Wake up Americans! I'm more "Old-School" and will never listen to propaganda-type brainwashing which ABC is soooooo good at! Common sense will solve most problems immediately. Peace...

I think Jeremy looks fine, enough about his weight! Jeremy and Vanita are a great team, she is beautiful and has a great speaking voice. When I first started watching, after learning she was from Texas I assumed she was of Spanish decent until she mentioned she was Indian. I then assumed she was Native American Indian. Not until I saw her wedding pictures did I realize she is of Indian decent. How beautifully unique! I enjoyed the pictures, her husband is handsome! How did she lose the Texas accent? What a great news team! Jeremy is super smart and I think they work well as a team, hats off to the brillant person who teamed these two together, their my favorite news team. I find myself awakening at 0230 just to watch this dynamic duo. If I miss a segment, I have to call afriend in Phoenix who never misses a show and update myself. We too have voiced our concerns regarding the status of his health. We wish Venita every happiness in her marriage. The duo presents the news with a casual but professional manner---a great improvement from pas night anchors.

Was visiting our daughter in Germany and one morning had the TV on and the voice and face looked so familar. After viewing the TV I called our daughter to come and see. As soon as she saw him she said "That's Jeremy Hubbard". What a surprise to us. He was our neighbor in Garden City, KS. His brother was a good friend to our son and Jeremy was the little brother. Saw Jeremy on Night Line last night and noticed he has lost weight. Do enjoy watching him, and I still see the little boy. Who would ever thought he would grow up and do what he is doing. Hey, wonder if he can get tickets to a Yankee game.

I started watching ABC's World News some time ago, when Jeremy was a little"thick". He looked good for awhile, but now, he's getting too thin. He looks gaunt and drawn. I too have lost a lot of weight, but I knew when to stop. It's time to stop Jeremy. You would be much better without Vinita, she's starting to et boring. Kind of like Kathy Griffin.

Have you guys watched the show? Or read the previous responses? He is NOT... repeat NOT sick. He's not on hypertension medication, he's not on his death bed. He's talked about it several times on TV: he simply lost weight through diet and exercise. That's it. He's perfectly healthy. Don't call the mortician just yet!

I think Jeremy and Venita are an AB FAB team. Being a night owl and unemployed of late, I have watched the transitions w/ other people & I do not watch unless the two of them are together as he is quite on the mark, funny and sweet and Venita is very polished and professional. I also like that Jeremy likes dogs & speaks well of them, especially w/ all the animals being doomed on a daily basis & even worse now w/ the Foreclosures & high unemployment.
IN REFERENCE TO JEREMY'S WEIGHT LOSS: I too have noticed his weight loss---he use to be kind of stocky. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he is well, but he looks like & this is a guess...only a guess, that maybe he is on hypertension medication which causes a lot of weight loss along w/ weight loss being directed to lower blood pressure. Then they have to keep finding the right medication w/ the least side effects.
Does anyone know for sure? Anyone in New York?
I hope he is alright and best wishes to both Jeremy and Venita as they are a great news team.

The snide, sarcastic remark made by Jeremy on the morning following Michael Jackson's memorial program at the Staples Center was very cruel and inappropriate. As he segued to clips of the Ringling Brothers circus setting setting up and preparing to perform at the Staples Center, he commented that the "ACTUAL CIRCUS" was moving in for its performance at the Staples Center. No, he's perfectly healthy. They ran a story about his weight loss the other night. He's lost about 30 pounds, through diet and exercise. They said he walks about seven miles a day. And they made a point of saying "don't worry, he's not sick."

Is Jeremy Hubbard sick? I love Jeremy and Vinita! At first when Jeremy started coming down in weight (I guess around the first of the year is when I started noticing the weight loss) he looked fantastic. But, the weight seems to becoming off faster and faster and more rapidly to the point he looks incredibly emaciated and to be in poor health. Let's keep in mind Jeremy was not an OBESE person to begin with (a bit chunked or mildly husky) but, it looks scary and I am worried for him... Can anyone answer this? Is Jeremy ailing from something?

I do not get back to sleep until 5 or 6, Fireman - with broken spine... You both should be awarded the "BEST" News Team in the TV industry. On August 12, 2008 at 3.45AM,I happened to catch Jeremy Hubbard smart remarks regarding Elvis Presley being overweight late in his life. Even overweight Elvis had a voice that was one remembered 30 years after he died, wonder if Jeremy Hubbard will be remembered even 10 years after his death by anyone but his family. I found his remarks very insulting to a very great and loved man. Why not just report the news and not add YOUR personal, insulting remarks?
