Isaiah Washington's Fate?

January 22, 2007

While he frantically sets up damage control meetings and looks  to curry a little public favor, Isaiah Washington should take a quick little look at the company policy handbook at Disney.

According to CNN, a source at Disney said that Isaiah Washington's comments about the sexuality of Grey's Anatomy castmate T.R. Knight may actually violate the anti-discrimination policy set forth by the company, and violation of the policy can lead to any employee–even a high-profile one like Washington–being fired.

So–what do you think the official reason he gets written off the show will be, if he gets written off? And how will they write him off? The bad hand? A mishap in the ER? A surprise diagnosis? A career change?

Maybe someone at ESPN/ABC/Disney could give this guy Harold Reynold''s phone number. Reynolds was fired without question for giving a female staff member a hug in a public parking lot after a group dinner following an ESPN event.

If Disney is going to enforce its "zero" tolerance policy of workplace harrassment, then perhaps it better step up to the plate and terminate Mr. Washington who called a fellow employee a "faggot" after a physical altercation with yet another employee in a workplace location.

Is it possible that there is a double standard at work here? One for cable employees and one for the "big brothers" on the broadcast side?

They won''t fire him. The "source from Disney" is trying to stoke the fire for publicity''s sake. Even bad press is press.

As long as he gets written off, anything goes. And do so already, ABC.
