Memo To CBS: Time To Bring 'Star Trek' Back To TV
CBS Corp. which owns the TV rights to Star Trek, should take a long hard look at the possibility of beaming the series back to TV sets.
I am not the first to speculate on a new Trek series, but having now seen the upcoming movie (opening May 7), I can say that Paramount has a smash hit franchise on their hands, and has breathed new life into a dead property.
The new movie successfully brings the campy TV series and classic theatrical franchise into the 21st century. The script is funny, the action is exciting, and the special effects are spectacular. Now, a new TV series would not be able to replicate the action or effects, but with some sharp writers (Heroes and Pushing Daisies‘ Bryan Fuller has expressed interest), there is an excellent chance of success.
Last night at the Viacom screening, CEO Philippe Dauman seemed genuinely thrilled with the final product, a reaction made clear by the studio’s greenlighting of a sequel last month… well before the film’s release. Dauman said he would have been happy to give the go ahead to additional sequels based on the first installment alone, though no such order has been given yet.
Yes, as James Hibberd points out in his blog, there are many, many hurdles to bringing Star Trek back to TV, but that should not stop the parties involved from trying to make it happen. It is only logical, after all.
If the revamped Star Trek movie does not bring the classic sci fi series back into the zeitgeist, nothing ever will. Handled properly, the Star Trek franchise will, without a doubt, continue to live long and prosper.

Please bring back Enterprise for a fifth season to tie up the loose ends that were clearly left at the end of season 4. I mean we didnt even get to see Captain Archers pivotal speech at the beginning of the federation. i wanted to see the speech. as everyone else has suggested before me episodes involving the romulans which clearly were stirring up things in the alpha quadrant.

its a shame that people slate Enterprise so much, i loved all the quirks it had in it. it felt rough and edgy which is what you would have expected from humans first exloration vessel, i loved that they could'nt save the day with the transporter like so many TNG/voyager/ds9 episodes did.
But yeah a miniseries to do with the romulons would be interesting.

make Star Trek Titan based striaght after nemesis but before star trek 2009 so finnsh it before starting 2379-2387 ending by that date
Paul commented:
Any Trek is good... But they cancelled Enterprise just as it was coming out of it infancy and becoming a mature series. It really got good in the last two seasons... A great crew with an excellent development.....

I believe that they should bring back the next generation crew as in picard and his crew along with janeway and her crew i still believe that janeway should have a chance to do something else beside just making a journey though the delta quadarent... we need to tell what happens after she gets back to the federation!!!

I also liked the "Voyager" series. Basically I LOVE the kind of humanistic future that Star Trek depicts. I like the idea of thinking that future generations of humans would be that free thinking and that Earth would have mended all it's differences and intolerances. Yes, the adventures and special effects are fabulous and exciting to watch, but the basic premise of the franchise, that humans of the future will overcome their flaws and are indeed worthy of participation in the universe, is wonderful.

Star Trek Cardinal has been trying for years to bring Trek back to the small screen. I wish them luck.

They ruin the series with all the different spin offs they do in AMERICA. Just stick to star trek!
URGH
Desperate for it to come back
Scott Gilbert commented:
What a great idea! Now if we can find writers who understand what the original series was really about. Every episode was a morality play. The Dominion War did in Deep Space 9 and the Xindi War killed Enterprise. What those writers missed is that we watch Trek series to ESCAPE that kind of conflict in our daily lives in the real world. Anyone contemplating bringing the series back to TV should watch the original shows and read a couple dozen of the books. And no more Season Long Wars! Jeez.
Christopher Pike commented:
Please bring back Star Trek Enterprise for a mini-series or Fifth Season. It was cancelled by an uncaring Leslie Moonves back in Feb 2005. That show had so much potential - Archer being a key player in this fictional universe, instumental to the creation of it's Federation. Then's the Romulan War mentioned as happening 100 years before Kirk, well within this series' timeframe.
