Dr. Horrible Finds a Home on Hulu
Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog was in many respects the ultimate limited time offer. The Buffy and Firefly creator wrote the musical, about a supervillain with a weaknes for the girl at the Laundromat, during the 100 day writers strike that crippled the industry late last year.
Whedon called on his family and friends to produce the 43 minute story, which was supposed to be available online for a only a few days, ending July 20, before being available on iTunes for download.
Well, maybe the crazy reaction he got at Comic-Con changed his mind, because Whedon is putting all three parts of Dr. Horrible back online at Hulu for another four months.
Not only that, but Joss took to the Hulu blog to give some insight into Dr. Horrible’s evil mind, as well as addressing the fans who thought their chance to stream hi story was long since past.
“Dr. Horrible is diabolical, relentless and surprisingly hummable. It’s presented in three separate acts, so if you don’t like one, you’re perfectly free to suck it up and watch the other two in pain! And it’s on Hulu, the premier site for people who like joy and life and children and America,” Whedon wrote. “Point being, Hulu hosted Dr. Horrible for free for a week, which we, the mushortio-makers, are forever grateful for, and now you can stream it for free on their site. How awesome is that? I know, you’re humbled. Stop groveling. Just remember: the more you watch it, the more you will understand about life and the universe and hydroponics. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry…. and you just might learn long division. With songs! PLEASE watch it. We’re so lonely…”
There you have it, Joss Whedon, a tad bit neurotic, but an excellent writer. Check out part one of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog below, with the rest here…
