'The Daily Show' Adds a Correspondent, Jams With Coldplay

June 24, 2008

Wyatt Cenac has joined The Daily Show with Jon Stewart full time as a correspondent, Comedy Central says. Cenac made his first appearance for the “Best F *&#ing News Team Ever!®” June 3 (see below).

In addition, Coldplay will perform on the program June 25, marking only the third time that a live performance has taken place on the show. The White Stripes performed on the program December 1, 2005 and Tom Waits performed there November 28, 2006.

Cenac’s first field piece, investigating senior voters in Florida, will premiere on the June 25 program as well. Cenac has been a regular at the UCB Theater in Los Angeles since its inception in 2005. He has also spent three years as a writer and voiceover actor for Fox’s King of the Hill.

Coldplay will be on the show promoting their new album, Viva la Vida, which hit stores June 17.

The Daily Show is currently gearing up for the 2008 presidential election. Election season has always been when The Daily Show was at its strongest ratings-wise, and when it seems to produce its best shows.
