ABC's Lost Finale Not Short On Car Ads
Anyone wondering about the health of the auto industry and its impact on the ad business ought to take note of ABC’s Lost finale last night. Though the auto category is still weak, it is far from dark. In the 10 p.m. hour we spotted: Ford brand Lincoln MK; Hyundai’s Genesis Coupe; Audi 0.5; Toyota Prius and what we think was a Toyota Dealer Association spot.
Separately we’re hearing that dealer associations in local markets are starting to make noises about getting back on air with new vehicles set for delivery in a few months. And while car advertising might be down on last year, some sports sales executives say there’s been an uptick in business from those in the car repair segment.
The two-hour Lost finale was, as ever, chock full of fight scenes, explosions and blinding light. A great place for two headache pill brands, Advil and Excedrin which also appeared during the Lost commercial breaks last night.
