Daily DigVid Review
April 25, 2008
The major story of the day is the all-Internet watch on Microsoft’s deadline for Yahoo! to accept its $43 billion takeover bid, due Saturday, although analysts are predicting that both companies will walk away in light of Microsoft’s less-than-stellar quarterly returns and a difficult economy. In other acquisition news, some are predicting Google will go after Web aggregator Digg.com.
Gannett and Meredith each are creating their own social networks with social media techno logy firm Ripple6, according to MediaPost. Gannett’s network will focus on indie bands, while Meredith’s will center around recipe sharing.
Yahoo! and CNET entered into a three-year strategic partnership. Yahoo! will sell display ads across content brands, while Yahoo! will add CNET-generated content to its Tech and News sections.
As we head into the weekend, here’s a Web site you and your family should check out: I’m sure you’ve been there before, but Discovery.com is simply gorgeous, particularly its microsite on Discovery Earth Live. Also, if you live in SoCal and were planning to hit the beach this weekend, watch out for sharks. Seriously.
