Streaming Nashville
September 11, 2007

This will probably be the first in many such blog entries, because every network now streams every premiere somewhere, but this falls right into my sweet spot so here goes: Fox is premiering its new docu-drama, Nashville, on Friday, Sept. 14 at 9 p.m. ET, but for those eager early adopters, the show also will stream on various Web sites and portals starting today. Those sites include Fox.com, AOL.com, IGN.com, TV.com, Comcast.net and TVGuide.com, among others. (MySpace's omission must just be an oversight.) Come October, one has to assume these sorts of premieres will first hit Hulu.com, when NBC U/Fox's video portal launches in beta.

The show follows a group of country-music wannabes trying to start their career in, you guessed it, Nashville. It’s like a grittier, countrified American Idol without the Hollywood karaoke.  The show is produced by reality up-and-comer Go Go Luckey Productions, which is the crowd behind MTV’s tabloid-y reality hit, Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, as well as Paradise City, Rollergirls and Nightclub Confessions. And I have to confess that I haven’t heard of those last three shows, but I’m sure I could stream them online somewhere if I wanted to know more.
