Court Blocks
May 13, 2008

It’s a proven fact: court blocks are successful in markets across the country. Franchise court shows – especially iconic, themed series like PEOPLE’S COURT and DIVORCE COURT – appear to be fueling the strength of these court rotations. Not surprisingly, these shows are ratings leaders , and help court blocks rank competitively in key time periods. It was against this backdrop of competitive strength that we we introduced FAMILY COURT as the latest addition to the successful franchise court genre.

First, the name itself is reminiscent of the iconic status of both PEOPLE’S COURT and DIVORCE COURT. It is logical that such instant familiarity will inspire sampling among daytime court viewers in otherwise crowded and increasingly fragmented daytime schedules. FAMILY COURT actually sounds like it has been around for a very long time even though its a fresh, brand new series.

Secondly, like DIVORCE COURT, FAMILY COURT deals with issues that face families every single day. In particular, the series will focus on the myriad everyday conflicts that everyone can relate to, bringing them to successful resolution in a way that is both satisfying and instructive.

Finally, and just as importantly, the FAMILY COURT production team draws on the experience of both DIVORCE COURT and PEOPLE’S COURT, populated as it is by veterans from both of those great legacy shows.

Of course, in the end, its all about the judge and in Judge Penny Brown Reynolds we have a remarkable, talented jurist who’s experience, compassion and work ethic promise great things to come when FAMILY COURT is in session.
