Business side promotions plus
December 21, 2007
The Cable and Telecommunications Human Resources Association, also known as CTHRA for those in the know, has a new president. Taking the two-year leadership seat is Charter Communications’
LYNN RAMSEY, whose title is SrVP Human Resources. She’ll be taking the slot of Texas Region Time Warner’s JUAN MUNOZ, who’ll move to the CTHRA’s exec committee and board of directors. Cool.
Keeping with the promotion time of year announcements, congrats go out to
JOHN P. QUINN, who is the new Executive Vice President, Worldwide Operations of
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. On his plate for the new year will be publishing “Speed Racer,” “LEGO Batman,” “Project Origin” and more. John’s been with the Warner Bros (no mention of sister Dot) in various management positions since 1977. Good news!
SAMANTHA GREENE WOODRUFF has been promoted to Vice President, Strategy and Business Development,
Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group. She’s a lady who sees the big picture and will continue to contribute to those long-range plans for all the brands involved. She was instrumental in putting together the deal between Nickelodeon and the Marriott lodging chain to develop a new brand focusing on the traveling family. The Wesleyan grad also has an MBA from NYU – her specialty is finance and marketing. Her first career slot was with MTV Networks in research and she has worked for L’Oreal’s Maybelline brand as well. Wonderful to hear, Samantha.
New business cards are under the tree for
DAVID GILES, who now sports the title Sr. VP, VH1/CMT Research. Yep, a promotion. Mr. G is definitely a research kind of guy and has supported all kinds of departments, like programming, scheduling, marketing, press and financial. He came to VH1/CMT back in ’99 after working at CBS. He holds a BA from Ontario, Canada’s Queens University as well as a music degree from New School in NYC.

Here’s a great title: VP of international finance. The owner of the
QVC variety is
CHERIE GROBBEL, who’ll be working at the Chester, PA headquarters but focusing on the world scene. Cherie has spent time in the financial areas of GameStop, 7-Eleven and a CPA firm. She’s a Certified Treasure Professional and CPA…that sounds impressive. Ms. G holds an MBA from Penn State U of Great Valley, PA. This is all great news, too.
Welcoming
ANDREW FARLEY to their company is Castalia Communications – they do international distribution of all kinds of programming. Andrew is now their VP of Affiliate Sales, bringing 20 years of experience from AMC and Bravo to their table. He just finished operating a successful European TV network. Cool The U of Colorado grad has an undergraduate degree and an MBA. Castalia is based in Atlanta with offices worldwide.
