Posted by Kate Bacon on May 8, 2008
IT folks are sometimes the Rodney Dangerfield’s of the entertainment, broadcast, cable, TV business. But they keep us all going. Admit it…you panic when your computer doesn’t work. Liberty Sports Group has named BRIAN McHALE as the Chief Technology Officer. Brian will handle all the IT needs of the regional sports networks in Denver, Seattle and Pittsburgh. He’s an old hand at keeping it all together, having worked in IT management slots at Starz and Discovery Communications. Great to hear, Brian!

Posted by Kate Bacon on May 6, 2008
That’s MARK MCGEARY there in the pix. Doesn’t he look a little like VAL KILMER? Yeah, I think so too. Mark has just been named General Sales Manager of WHO-TV, Local TV’s NBC affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa. The Humboldt State grad will be moving north from his current post at sister station KFSM in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where he handled Local Sales. The 18-year veteran of TV has also been a GSM at KHBS/KHOG in Ft. Smith, WYFF in Greenville, SC and Seltel. Congrats to the California native!

Home to the National Toy Hall of Fame, Rochester, NY is also where you’ll find the Strong National Museum of Play. It’s not all fun and games…they work hard in Rochester, too. One such hardworking resident is LAUREN BURRUTO, who has been appointed General Sales Manager at News 10NBC, WHEC-TV. It’s the NBC affiliate there, owned by Hubbard. Lauren is a Pittsford, NY native (just down the road, actually) who is an alum of Ohio Wesleyan U. She began her career as an AE at the station, and was most recently National Sales Manager. Great to hear of your upward mobility, Lauren!

The St. Louis Connection, CFO's, and Peacock Drama

Posted by Kate Bacon on April 16, 2008
One of the oddest things about being raised in St. Louis is the never-ending fascination with high school attendance. When one meets another St. Louisan, one always asks what high school they went to, and that is exactly what happened when talking to the new Creative Services Director for Meredith’s Phoenix operation, KPHO. As a matter of fact, there’s a real St. Louis connection to the station that extends to the GM, who used to work in the Gateway to the West. You’ll want to know where MATT HYATT went to school (that’s him in the pix) so you’ll want to ...Read More
