CELEBRITY CROSSWORDS
May 8, 2008
Ever since I last blogged about Reese Witherspoon being a big Merv Griffin’s Crosswords fan she and other celebrities have come out of the Crosswords closet. Reese, who just graced the cover of Marie Claire, spoke to People magazine about her home life. “The 31-year-old Academy Award winning actress says that her family just likes to spend time watching game shows "like the new 'Crosswords' and 'Deal or No Deal.” I’ve also seen Christina Applegate quoted as saying “It's nerdy, but seriously, crossword puzzles are really an obsession. I've got the entire cast and crew of Samantha Who? involved…” Now if we could just get Bill Clinton, whose written a NY Times puzzle, or John Stewart to play.
On another note, it’s déjà vu all over again to quote Yogi Berra. It seems like just yesterday everyone was talking about the “S” word. No, not that “S” word, I’m talking about the “Strike.” It’s hard to believe that we’re finally starting to recover from the writer’s strike and now there’s the very real possibility of an actor’s strike. Now I don’t claim to be an expert on Labor Relations, but come on… can’t we all just get along?! At least until we can get some new episodes of some of my favorite shows. Instead of striking, I vote we lock everyone in a room until a deal can be hammered out.
Well just in case we’re watching reruns again, I recently recorded the voice work for the X-box and Wii versions of Merv Griffin’s Crosswords. THQ is handling the project which should be released soon. I’m looking forward to finally being able to play along. That’s the downside of hosting a great game, you never get to actually play. In the meantime I downloaded the online version of Crosswords over at Crosswords.tv.
