I can’t believe it … 2008!?! It doesn’t even look right when I type it and I’m sure I won’t remember to put it on my checks until at least February. Nevertheless, 2008 promises to be an important year.
The Presidential election process is already underway here in the US. With all the significant challenges our country faces and with democracy somewhat tainted in the rest of the world lately, it’s very important that we get it right. It seems that others realize this as well, judging by the early overwhelming voter turnouts. 2008 promises to be a year of change and it will be very interesting to see how it all plays out.
On a personal note, 2008 is going to be a year for trying new things. As a former government accountant who was sure he was doomed to cubicle life, it has always been very exciting for me to take each new step of my entertainment career. This January, I’ve been asked to host the red carpet for the Golden Globes. It’s an honor to be a part of such a prestigious event. More importantly, it now gives my wife and I an excuse to hire a babysitter and go see all the movies we’ve missed this year due to raising two young toddlers. Date nights here we come! I’ve also been asked to guest host a morning news program. I’ll share more info when I can, but I’m thrilled to be able to branch out beyond entertainment news. Not that the latest celebrity DUI’s aren’t important, it’s just that I’m looking forward to taking on the many new challenges of hard news. And of course, I’m very much looking forward to our 2nd year of production on Merv Griffin’s Crosswords. I know there are many exciting new changes we’ll be incorporating to ensure that our show will be more fun and more addictive than ever, so stay tuned!
