Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News will present Univision news anchor and award-winning journalist Jorge Ramos with the Award for a Lifetime of Achievement in Hispanic Television at the two publications’ Hispanic Television Summit, to be held at the Hilton in New York Oct. 22-23.
Ramos is co-anchor of Univision’s award-winning evening-news program, Noticiero Univision, and also hosts Al Punto, the Spanish-language network’s Sunday-morning political talk show, which features exclusive interviews with prominent newsmakers, as well as a roundtable analysis of current events.
Ramos also hosted political forums with Democratic and Republican presidential candidates in Spanish and co-hosted one debate with CNN.
Previous Award for a Lifetime of Achievement in Hispanic Television winners included Sábado Gigante host Don Francisco (Mario Kreutzberger), sportscaster Andres Cantor, journalist Maria Celeste Arraras and host of El Show de Cristina Cristina Saralegui.
“We at Multichannel News and Broadcasting & Cable are thrilled and honored that Jorge Ramos has accepted our invitation to receive this award,” publisher Larry Dunn said in a statement.
“Jorge Ramos is most certainly deserving of this industry acknowledgement as he is highly regarded by his colleagues in both Spanish- and English-language television,” Dunn added. “But, perhaps he is most deserving because of his professional approach to the news, which is reflected by his popularity with his loyal viewers.”
