Fox said Wednesday that its coverage of the 79th Major League Baseball All-Star Game from Yankee Stadium drew an average audience of 14.5 million viewers and posted a 9.3/16 fast national rating/share, according to Nielsen Media Research.
The network said Tuesday night’s contest marked the most-watched All-Star Game since the 2002 contest, which attracted 14.7 million viewers, and finished in a tie with the 2006 gathering for highest rating since 2003’s 9.5/17.
When compared with the 2007 All-Star Game from San Francisco’s AT&T Park, viewership rose 16% from 12.5 million last year and ratings were up 11% from 8.4/15.
Due to the length of the 15-inning, four-hour-and-50-minute game, Nielsen issued two ratings figures: a 9.3/16 for the first nine innings and a 7.5/18 for the extra innings.
