PBS’ Lehrer Returning to the Air

The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer will once more be true to its name.

By John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 6/25/2008 1:31:00 PM

The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer will once more be true to its name. Jim Lehrer will return to the show Thursday for the first time in two months.

Jim Lehrer

Lehrer exited the show in late April to undergo heart-valve surgery. He will ease back into the anchor chair, hosting two or three days per week with an eye toward eventually resuming the five-day-per-week schedule.

In Lehrer's absence, senior correspondents Gwen Ifill, Ray Suarez and Judy Woodruff have been anchoring the show.

NewsHour airs on 315 PBS stations and via XM Satellite Radio.
