NBC to Officially Tap Fallon for 12:30 a.m.

Network Sets Monday Press Conference in New York; Expected to Name Jimmy Fallon to Replace Conan O'Brien at 12:30 a.m.

By Ben Grossman -- Broadcasting & Cable, 5/9/2008 5:44:00 PM

NBC scheduled a noon press conference Monday in New York at which the network is expected to formalize the naming of Jimmy Fallon as its new 12:30 a.m. late-night host.

Jimmy Fallon

Fallon, the former Saturday Night Live star, would fill the post-Tonight Show spot that is scheduled to be vacated by Conan O'Brien next year if NBC goes ahead with its plan for O'Brien to replace Jay Leno at 11:30 p.m.

NBC’s selection of Fallon was first reported by B&C last year. Fallon inked a development deal with the network in February 2007.
