Hillary Clinton to Appear on The Daily Show March 3

Marks Second Appearance on Comedy Central Show for Democratic Presidential Candidate

By Alex Weprin & John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 2/29/2008 5:55:00 PM

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) is scheduled to appear as a guest on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart the night before the Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island Democratic primaries.

Hillary Clinton

The Daily Show audience consists largely of the demographic Clinton needs to reach during the primaries March 4.

The appearance will be the first time Clinton has appeared on the show since she announced her candidacy for president. Her last appearance was Oct. 8, 2003.

She will appear via satellite from Austin, Texas. Her appearance will also be streamed on the Web sites for The Daily Show and Indecision 2008.

Clinton, who had once been seen as the “inevitable” Democratic candidate, has found herself in tight races in Texas and Ohio, two states she will almost certainly have to win in order to remain competitive with Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.).

Obama has been on the show twice -- in person Aug. 27, after he declared, and via satellite Nov. 7, 2005.

Clinton’s two appearances on the show pale in comparison to likely Republican nominee Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who has appeared on The Daily Show 11 times, more than any other guest in the program’s history.
