Fox won Wednesday night easily with American Idol and Moment of Truth averaging an 8.7 rating/22 share in the 18-49 demo, according to Nielsen Media Research overnight numbers.
But Moment of Truth continued to slip, averaging a 7.1/17 versus a 7.8/19 the week before and a 10.2/24 for its debut. It also fell from a 7.7 rating in its first half-hour to a 6.6 in its second while the competition either held steady or gained ratings points from their first to second half-hours. Still, most other networks would like the "problem" of a series that was only doing a 7-plus rating.
In distant second place on the night was CBS, which averaged a 2.7/7 in the demo, led by CSI: NY from 10 p.m.-11 p.m., which averaged a 3.2/8 to win the time period.
ABC was third with a 2.5/6, led by Wife Swap from 9 p.m.-10 p.m. with a 3/7.
NBC was fourth with a 2.3/6. Its top show was Law & Order with a 2.9/8 from 10 p.m.-11 p.m. for second place behind CBS.
The CW was fifth with a 0.7/2.
