The History Channel’s Life After People special brought the network its largest audience ever, drawing 5.4 million total viewers at 9 p.m. Monday. That made History the top-ranked cable network for the night.
The two-hour show, which examines what could happen if humans were extinguished from the world, averaged 2.7 million adults 25-54 and 2.8 million adults 18-49, the best ratings in those demos for the night in all of cable, as well.
The record follows a string of ratings wins History has posted under executive vice president and general manager Nancy Dubuc. In the past year, the network has programmed its six most-viewed series and three most-viewed specials in its decade or so of making original programming.
