Showtime Picks Up Tracy Ullman Sketch Comedy
Tracy Ullman’s State of the Union to Debut March 30

Showtime picked up Tracy Ullman’s State of the Union, a sketch-comedy series about “a day in the life of America.”
Comedian Ullman will mock pundits, celebrities and politicians such as Arianna Huffington (pictured), Nancy Pelosi and David Beckham while creating fictional characters to skewer U.S. policy, such as a homeless woman without health insurance and a soldier on leave from Iraq.
“I have always loved Tracey Ullman ever since I was a young development executive at Fox when she was doing the original Tracey Ullman Show,” said Robert Greenblatt, president of entertainment at Showtime Networks, in a statement. “She is a one-of-a-kind comedienne and sketch-comedy performer, a true artist. We are so proud to bring her to Showtime in a completely new show that will again showcase what she does best. And in this case, she will be looking at the wide cross-section of Americans and both celebrating us and sending us up.”
Tracy Ullman’s State of the Union will debut on Showtime March 30 at 10 p.m. in a primo timeslot after the second-season premiere of The Tudors. Showtime ordered five half-hour episodes of the series.
