‘State of the FCC’ Meeting Set for Jan. 17

Federal Communications Commission to Include Status Report in Response to Investigation Launched by House Energy & Commerce Committee

By John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 1/10/2008 6:07:00 PM

The Federal Communications Commission scheduled its next meeting for Jan. 17, and it will include a status report on how things get done at the agency.

FCC headquarters, The Portals

As is customary for the first meeting of the year, the meeting will be confined to "state of the FCC" reports from the key bureaus: Wireline Competition, Media, Consumer and Government Affairs, Public Safety, Homeland Security, Wireless, Engineering and Technology, International and Enforcement.

Those presentations will include "a comprehensive review of FCC policies and procedures," according to the agenda released Thursday. That phrase has taken on new import in the wake of an investigation launched by the House Energy & Commerce Committee this week into criticisms of those policies and procedures.
