CNN Ups India Contingent

KTVU-TV San Francisco’s Sidner, CNN’s Neisloss Heading to India

By John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 11/29/2007 3:38:00 PM

CNN added "editorial operations" in India via the hiring of two new reporters.

Sara Sidner

Sara Sidner, from KTVU-TV San Francisco, will be based in New Delhi. Liz Neisloss, who had been a producer and correspondent for CNN, most recently covering the United Nations, will be an international correspondent, based in Chennai (formerly Madras) and effective immediately. Sidner won't come aboard until January, according to the company.

CNN already has a major presence there via CNN-IBN, its English-language Indian news channel.

The increased presence in India is part of a previously announced multimillion-dollar investment overseas, according to the company, which will also put additional resources in Afghanistan, Belgium, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, the Philippines, Poland and Vietnam.
