Hearst-Argyle Television Partners with Google on AdWords

TV-Station Owner, Internet-Search Giant Also Teamed Up on Dedicated YouTube Channels

By Michael Malone -- Broadcasting & Cable, 11/28/2007 11:28:00 AM

Hearst-Argyle Television is partnering with Google to become an official reseller of the Google AdWords advertising program.

Google AdWords

The AdWords platform delivers relevant Web ads to users when they search for products and services. According to Hearst-Argyle, the broadcaster “will use its Web sales force to provide marketers in its 26 local markets access to Google AdWords.”

“This is a terrific partnership to expand the digital suite of solutions we provide our advertisers,” Hearst-Argyle executive vice president Terry Mackin said. “This entry point to the local search market complements our existing digital-media efforts, which include local content, social networking and being a primary destination in all of our markets on ‘all three screens.’”

Hearst-Argyle and Google also partnered on dedicated YouTube Web channels for the various Hearst stations. Those channels debuted in June.
