ESPN Lands Masters' First, Second Rounds

Cable Sports Network to Air Three Live Hours of Coverage per Day

By Ben Grossman -- Broadcasting & Cable, 10/10/2007 11:42:00 AM

ESPN will replace USA Network as the television home of the first two rounds of golf’s Masters Tournament beginning in 2008.

The Masters

ESPN’s coverage will begin with a Wednesday, April 9, preview show before it picks up live coverage Thursday and Friday, April 10 and 11.

ESPN and ESPN HD will air coverage from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. (EST) each day, with replays from 8 p.m.-11 p.m.

ESPN’s Mike Tirico will host the event, although as with USA, ESPN will use CBS’ crew and announcers for its coverage.

CBS continues to carry the weekend coverage.

The network also gains Spanish-language rights and will air the tournament on its ESPN Deportes.
