Where to be and what to watch…

TUESDAY, SEPT. 25
WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 26
THURSDAY, SEPT. 27
FRIDAY, SEPT. 28
MONDAY, SEPT. 24

Advertising Week is here, which means Madison Avenue-types are traipsing through Gotham all week. The event kicks off with a leadership breakfast and cook-off, GroupM's Irwin Gotlieb wielding the spatula with an eye on the 2007 “Breakfast Crown.” Also going down is the Online Media, Marketing and Advertising (OMMA) Conference at the New York Hilton. A panel on content ownership features NBC Universal chief digital officer George Kliavkoff and MySpace marketing Senior VP Shawn Gold. And will The Nine do better as a book about the Supreme Court than a drama about people trapped in a bank? Author Jeffrey Toobin hopes so. CNN anchor Anderson Cooper questions Toobin at Barnes & Noble in Union Square. Elsewhere in Manhattan, the Museum of the Moving Image hosts a panel on campaign ads at the Times Center in midtown. MSNBC host Chris Matthews moderates.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 25

Food Network hits the road in search of the next Emeril/Mario/Nigella. Foodies with a face for television are turning up at David Burke Las Vegas in the Venetian. Back at OMMA, Carat Americas CEO David Verklin sits for questioning from James Lipton. And for that family member who's simply impossible to shop for, Dancing With the Stars: Jive, Salsa and Tango Your Way Into the Best Shape of Your Life is published today. Your money back if they don't start looking—and moving—like Joey Lawrence or Elena Grinenko.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 26

American Express VP of Global Advertising Diego Scotti hosts the Advertising Week breakfast at the New York Times Building, while down D.C. way, the FCC holds its Digital Television Consumer Education Workshop at headquarters. And lest we forget, a new season of thoughtful television is again upon us. GAC follows four Nashville hitmakers as they travel, shop and pen country smashes when The Hitmen of Music Row premieres at 8 p.m. ET. And can NBC make Bionic Woman bigger, stronger and faster—and with better ratings—than the short-lived Lindsay Wagner original? Find out when Bionic debuts at 9.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 27

As that John Mayer cat crooned, one day his generation/is gonna rule the population. Yes, the so-called Millennials are big, and getting bigger. Find out what they consume at the Millennials Conference at Scandinavia House in New York. MTV research wiz Matt Catapano shares “5 Things You Need to Know About Millennials.” (Note to readers: If we ever quote Mayer in this space again, lock us up in a room full of screaming tweens.) Speaking of thinking small, the NAB throws its Small Market Television Exchange event at the Hyatt Regency in Austin. Finally, it may not be an Emmy, or a Pulitzer, or even a Webby, but CBS News guy Bill Geist gets the Marist College Lowell Thomas Award at the University Club in Manhattan. It's given to the media professional whose work best reflects the imagination and courage of some Marist donor named Lowell Thomas.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 28

More than 1,000 of the brightest female tech minds are in Santa Clara, Calif., as the Women and Technology Summit rolls along at the Hyatt Regency. Today's speakers include BlogHer co-founder Elisa Camahort. And the season-four premiere of Stargate Atlantis, starring Rachel Luttrell, airs on Sci Fi. Atlantis' power system is severely damaged. Its protective shields are on the fritz, the artificial gravity isn't working either, and an asteroid belt is rapidly approaching. Where, pray tell, are those technologically adept women when you need them?
