Kids WB! on CW Changes Lineup

By John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 4/24/2006 10:02:00 AM

Kids WB! on CW will add four new shows when it moves from The (folding) WB to the new CW network when the latter launches in the fall, including several featuring classic Warner Bros. toons.

Making way for the classic animation will be some anime offerings, including including Yu-Gi-Oh, Viewtiful Joe, and the one-time powerhouse brand, Pokemon.

Three of the four new shows are from Warner Bros. Animation, whose parent, Time Warner, co-owns the new CW network, as it did The WB.

With all four remaining shows from the Warner Bros. toon shop, that means seven of the eight shows announced so far for the Saturday-morning kids block are in-house productions.

The new shows are Legion of Super Heroes, a familiar title to Boomer comic fans; and the familiar faces of Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue, Tom & Jerry Tales, and Monster Allergy (from Rainbow S.P.A.).

Sticking around for the switch are The Batman, Loonatics Unleashed, Xiaolin Showdown and Johnny Test, not to be confused with Johnny Quest.

The five-hour block will begin at 7-8 a.m. with "Pillow Head," two as-yet-unidentified education/informational shows, which means they qualify towards the FCC's three-hour weekly minimum of E/I shows.

To add a spoonful of sugar to the educational block, it will have a host, a "youth correspondent," Giselle, who will do "red carpet" interviews with celebrities about "pillow hair" experiences and other pillow-related fare, according to Warner Bros.
