ABC, PBS Top News Emmy Nods

PBS and ABC tied for most news and documentary Emmy nods Thursday with 27 apiece, and the History Channel beat out CBS, as the National Television Academy announced its nominations.
NBC was next after PBS and ABC with 21, followed by History with 14 and CBS with 10. MSNBC rounded out the top five with 7.
One of ABC's nominations is for a Peter Jennings special report on the tobacco wars in America. Jennings, a former smoker, is currently undergoing treatment for lung cancer.Denver was the most-nominated local market, with KMGH and KUSA there each getting a nod for regional reporting. The awards will be handed out Sept. 19 in New York, where HBO's documentary maven Sheila Nevins will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Following is the Academy's breakout of nominees by show:
