Walsh Talk Show Is Syndie Victim

With NBC Enterprises taking The John Walsh Show off the air, it's likely that stations will get in its place one of three new makeover shows the syndicator is developing.
NBC Enterprises announced last week that Walsh will go off the air after the February sweeps.
"We are very proud of John Walsh and the staff of The John Walsh Show," NBC Enterprises said in a statement "We thank them for their dedication and hard work that has resulted in a high-quality program."
NBC attributed the cancellation to Walsh's complicated schedule, which includes Fox's America's Most Wanted in prime time on Saturday nights. Season-to-date, however, Walsh has averaged 1.1 in the national household ratings, down 15% from last year. The show also was downgraded on several stations at the beginning of the season.
NBC wouldn't comment, but any one of the three half-hour makeover shows the company has in development could fill the slot.
The most likely candidate is Gal Pals, a spinoff of Bravo's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. On the show, from Queer Eye executive producers David Metzler and David Collins, experts will give "life makeovers" to women.
NBC also is looking at You Better Be Ready, which gives members of a studio audience makeovers on the spot, and Nobody's Perfect. In Nobody's Perfect, someone might nominate a mother, brother or close friend for a makeover and end up with a makeover as well.
Other options for stations would be repeats of Walsh or double runs of Starting Over. So far, the show hasn't performed well in the ratings, although it is doing well among young women. Starting Over will remain on the air at least until the start of next season, NBC Enterprises says.
