'Must See TV' takes Thursday

Friends and ER powered NBC to a Thursday-night win.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Survivor: Marquesas powered CBS to a competitive second place.

ABC and Fox were also-rans.

At 8 p.m., Friends killed with a 15 Nielsen Media Research household rating and 25 share of audience and an 11.4/31 among adults 18 through 49.

The first half-hour of Survivor was a distant second with a 10.3/17 and a 6.7/18 among adults 18 through 49.

At 8:30 p.m., with a Friends repeat on NBC, the second half-hour of Survivor closed the gap somewhat, although the repeat still won with a household 13/20 versus a 12/19 the last half of Survivor. The repeat won the key demo races, as well.

At 9 p.m., it was CBS' turn to dominate with CSI, which averaged a 15.6/24 versus a 10.5/16 for NBC's Will & Grace and Just Shoot Me comedy block.

CBS won the 18-through-49 and 25-through-54 battles, while NBC was first among adults 18 through 34.

From 10 p.m. to 11 p.m., ER owned the time period, winning in households, total viewers and across the key demos.

For the night, the household standings: NBC 13.7/22, CBS 11.5/18, ABC 5.5/9 and Fox 4.7/7.

Among adults 18 through 49: NBC 10.5/26, CBS 7/17, Fox 3.2/8 and ABC 2.5/6.

For adults 25 through 54: NBC 10.8/25, CBS 8.6/20, Fox 3.2/7 and ABC 2.7/6.
