Yankees Score For YES

Hot Weather Brings Hot Numbers For YES Network.

Though the New York Yankees so far this season have weak pitching, only hit sporadically and are 6 1/2 games behind the Boston Red Sox in their division, fans watching the games on TV don't seem to mind.

Through the first two months of the season, the Yankees Entertainment and Sports Network (YES) is averaging a 4.4 household TV rating for Yankees games, the highest ratings for that time span since in 13 years.

Hot weather doesn't hurt either. On Sunday afternoon, when the temperature soared to 93 muggy degrees, the YES telecast of the Yankees-Kansas City Royals game registered a 6.5 household rating, the second highest rated game that didn't involve the Red Sox ever shown on the five-year old YES network, which is seen in New York and parts of New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Also adding interest was the second start for pitcher Joba Chamberlain, a fan favorite, at least for now.
