The Federal Communications Commission's suburban mail-handling facility
remained closed to the U.S. Postal Service Tuesday as efforts continued to
eliminate trace amounts of anthrax contamination.
Overnight and United Parcel Service of America Inc. shipments are still being
accepted.
Because only trace amounts of anthrax have been discovered, FCC
mail-processing contractors are advised to not take precautionary
antibiotics.
The source of the contamination is believed to be cross-contamination with
other mail sent to the Washington, D.C., area and not directed specifically at
the FCC.
