TBS Superstation scored a spectacular 5.9 rating for the June 9 premiere of
its latest original movie, Atomic Twister. It's the best rating for a
cable original movie so far this year. A second play later that night scored a
3.6 rating, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
Atomic bolstered TBS' prime time ratings to a 1.9 average for the week of
June 3 through 9. Only Lifetime Television earned a higher average in prime time, with a 2.1.
Turner Network Television tied with sister network TBS for second with a 1.9.
The MTV 2002 Movie Awards nabbed a 5.6 rating June 6 (particularly
impressive since the taped show revealed days-old results) and the post-award
show logged a 3.2. MTV: Music Television finished the week with a 1.5 in prime time.
The June 4 season finale of The Shield earned a 3.9 rating. FX
finished the week with a 1.2 rating in prime time.
